2025 celebrates the quarter century of the first exhibition of what will become Home Frit' Home and its Micro Fries Museum from Brussels! On August 26, 2000, on the 3rd floor of 242 rue des Alliés, 1190 Brussels-Forest, an exhibition by Gilles Houben, known as the "painter of fritkots", is being held. Born at the initiative of Frites.be, it welcomes among its guests Jules Jean Vanobbergen, aka le Grand Jojo, and his buddy Lou Deprijck, as well as a team from RTBF (Belgian radio and television)..
The Micro Fries Museum from Brussels is the result of a long history that officially began on January 22, 1998 at 11:59 p.m. On that day at that precise time, the trademark "Frites.be" was registered, a mandatory step, at the time, in order to be able to register a .be domain name. Which didn't take long: on February 18, 1998, the domain name Frites.be was welcomed by DNS.BE. This would be the beginning of a very long history of fries... Its creators are called Christian Azoeuf and Hugues Henry.
Frites.be, joined in December 2000 by its Flemish counterpart Friet.be, was at the time a humorous and self-deprecating webzine (= magazine on the web) about Belgium. It defined itself as a tourist, exotic, gastronomic, eclectic, humorous and above all not serious webzine.
