Manneken Pis, fries and friturists: a very Belgian story

On 1 August 2026, Manneken Pis will don a friturist’s costume and receive a distinction from the National Order of the Golden Cone of Fries. That same weekend in Brussels‑Forest, Home Frit’ Home and its Micro Museum of Fries will open their doors free of charge to celebrate, in their own way, Belgian fries and the people behind the fritkots.

Home Frit’ Home’s Micro Fries Museum hosts an exhibition that’s not very catholic, but spectacularly Belgian.

• Sunday 2 August (1:30 pm–6:00 pm).

Fries and religion: a paper cone at heaven’s gate

In Belgium, fries are more than food: they are a shared ritual, a small crunchy absolute often found in the shadow of church towers.

Micro Fries Museum + “Frittenfantasie” closing event: free entry

The closing event for the "Frittenfantasie" exhibition, by Hans-Eberhard Stein, will be held at the heart of the Micro Fries Museum Brussels, with free open house events!
