In 2025, the Micro Fries Museum (Musée de la Frite / Frietmuseum) in Brussels celebrates its quarter century! Its first exhibition dates back to the summer of 2000 – well before the Home Frit' Home gallery existed: it was dedicated to Gillis Houben, aka the "painter of fritkots". For this anniversary, we have the juicy pleasure of welcoming Éric Legrain, the "painter of fritüures"! The opening of his exhibition "Fritüure" will be held this Friday, January 31, 2025, from 6:00 p.m.!

Opening of the exhibition "Fritüure" by Éric Legrain, with the help of the Cuvée des Trolls of the Dubuisson brewery, please visit and share this event (thank you!): https://www.facebook.com/events/9340316665998558

Living and working in Beho, at the eastern end of the province of Luxembourg, Éric Legrain has become known for his very personal painting. The artist reveals an uncompromising character, full of vivacity, and finds his fuel in the contrasts of colors, lines, lights...

Eric Legrain returns to the Micro Fries Museum Brussels

Home Frit' Home and its Micro Fries Museum have already welcomed Éric Legrain on the occasion of collective exhibitions: the inaugural opening, in September 2011, and "Belgian Frie(nd)s" in May 2014. With "Fritüure", we are delighted to offer him an expanded space to host a series initiated in parallel with another ("Coins de ciel bleu"), in 1996: "Fritüure". It is revealed from this Friday, January 31 through its history, new works stamped 2024 and 2025 included.

"A good fry warms the soul, it is the caviar of the poor, a scent of escape for the notables"

"My favorite theme is the world of the fritkot that I call "fritüure" (in Belgian in the text). I am especially interested in things that, a priori, have no interest", explains Éric Legrain. But a chip shop is above all an existential territory. From North to South, from East to West, the Belgian recognizes himself there. We are in the heart of the motherland. In the early morning, seeing the lighthouse, we can cry out for land. Under the banner "fritüure", the fragile framework endures, planted facing the abyss against wind and tide. "A good chip warms the soul, it is the caviar of the poor, a scent of escape for the notables". Éric Legrain paints a social portrait. For love, he deals with a food archetype, in touch with universal history. The loneliness of the architecture sets the phenomenon in all its strangeness, close to the lunar module.
