And this Belgian specialty is above all about conviviality and the pleasure of tasting at an affordable price. Where do you eat the best fries? In the fry stalls, of course! Where you will find the authentic fries artists. It is in their wake that the so-called Fritkotcultuur has crystallized since the end of the 19th century. This includes the customs and habits of frituristes («fryers») and fries lovers, and the way they express themselves in our daily lives, but also in popular music, literature, comics, art, etc.
At the end of July 2017, the Fritkotcultuur saved the reputation of the fries stands in the streets! It was recognized by all language communities in Belgium as intangible, cultural and oral heritage. The tradition of fries stalls in Belgium is a living heritage!
The Micro Museum of the Frite in Brussels invites you to immerse yourself in this world of the Fritkotcultuur. History, recipes, gadgets, painting, photography, literature, music... Fries are everywhere at Home Frit' Home, and double fried please!
The doors are open to you on Saturday May 4th (1:30 pm - 6:30 pm) and Sunday May 5th (1:30 pm - 6:00 pm).
More than 800 objects, documents and creations await you at the Micro Museum of the Fry in Brussels! The passionate fryologist on duty, Hugues Henry (author of "Carrément frites"), will take you on a journey through the euphoric twists and turns of the Fritkotcultuur.
