Give yourself a joyful start to 2026 on this first weekend of January! The visual poetry of Jean-Claude Salemi, a key figure on the Brussels graphic scene, is celebrated one last time at Home Frit’ Home with the finissage of his exhibition “Bienvenue chez nous”.

Jean-Claude and Martin Salemi in concert!

Humour, tenderness, popular heritage and urban life blend together on the walls of Home Frit’ Home. This rarely shown, densely hung constellation of prints and drawings by Jean-Claude Salemi sets the stage for a unique moment: a duo concert with his son, pianist and composer Martin Salemi (http://www.martinsalemi.com/), on Sunday 4 January from 3:00pm. The finissage weekend kicks off on Saturday 3 January 2026 from 1:30pm. “Bienvenue chez nous”: a title that feels like an invitation, making you smile as much as it makes you think, gently confronting us with our everyday pleasures and a touch of mischief. Prints and drawings, in colour as well as in black and white, lead us through an urban wander, mainly in Brussels, passing by cafés, corner shops, funfairs, fritkot stalls, cycle races and camp sites… with a few forced stops along the canal or on the motorway, when the engine gives up.

At the heart of the Micro Fry Museum in Brussels

This universe comes to life at the heart of the Micro Fry Museum at Home Frit’ Home, which gathers more than a thousand objects, documents, creations and artworks paying tribute to our golden fries and to the local “Fritkot Culture”. Did you know? Jean-Claude Salemi is also a great admirer of fritkot chip stalls. During the concert on Sunday 4 January at 3:00pm, in duo with his son Martin Salemi, feel free to ask for a generously “sauced” version of his song “L’amour en torpédo”, where he confides that, while cycling, he met Rita, the chip seller, “the chip-shop owner’s daughter who was looking for love, not adventure”…
